Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 159's parent organization is the
United Association.
The United Association (or "UA" as it is commonly known), is a union whose members fabricate, install and service piping systems.
The UA represents over 325,000 highly skilled members belonging to 321 individual local unions across the United States, Canada
and Panama. The UA was founded in 1889.

Local 159 was founded on April 3rd, 1915 in Martinez, California. 90 years later, our offices are still headquartered in
Martinez where we have our union hiring hall, Journeymen and Apprentice Training facility and assembly hall. With over 650
members and over 100 union contractors, we provide skilled plumbers, steamfitters, HVAC Refrigeration technicians and service
plumbers for work in Contra Costa County and beyond.
