Benefit Information


UA Local 159 members have access to the following benefits:

  • Medical, hospital, surgical and prescription drug benefits, through two health maintenance organizations ("HMOs"): Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Health Net. For qualified retirees who are Medicare-eligible and who live outside of the Plan HMOs' service areas, the Plan also offers a monthly stipend benefit, to reimburse the retiree for the cost of purchasing health care coverage.
  • Dental benefits, on a self-funded basis, administered through Delta Dental Plan of California.
  • Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance benefits, through Prudential Insurance Company of America.
  • Vision benefits, on a self-funded basis, administered through Vision Service Plan.
  • Hearing aid benefits, either through Kaiser or on a self-funded basis administered by the Trust Fund Office.

Do you need information about prevailing wages?

The California Labor Code imposes prevailing wage requirements upon projects (in excess of $1,000.00) "paid for in whole or in part out of public funds”.  Laws and Regulations pertaining to the payment of prevailing wages can be found in the California Labor Code Sections 1720-1815.

The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration is responsible for enforcing California laws and regulations pertaining to workplace safety and health and for providing assistance to employers and workers about workplace safety and health issues.

Do you need information about Workers Compensation Insurance?

The California Division of Workers' Compensation monitors the administration of workers' compensation claims, and provides administrative and judicial services to assist in resolving disputes that arise in connection with claims for workers' compensation benefits.
